  2. Naked [LP VINYL] Talking Heads Format: Vinyl. "Ruby Dear" is a potent reminder how deeply the Bo Diddly's "hand jive" beat was from old African dances. "The Democratic Circus","Mommy Daddy You and I","Big Daddy" and "Bill" all add more depth to these musical textures and darker melodies. This is one of Talking Heads albums, so I don't /5(51).

  6. Talking Heads created some amazing and life-changing music. "Naked" was not so glittery or manic like their previous albums. "Naked" has a stripped-down, organic feel. The production is simple and clever. The songs on "Naked" are very charming especially, "Totally Nude" and "(Nothing But) Flowers". "Ruby Dear" is the best track on the album/5(62).
  7. Talking Heads spent a good deal of the 's concentrating on different aspects of what was basically guitar oriented pop. It was done rather simplistically and on purpose. By the time the decade approached it was apparent Talking Heads would soon be no more. David Byrne's musical fascination had always remained in african type polyrhythms and /5(53).
  8. Naked is a political album, and while politics certainly showed up on other releases, the Talking Heads were paying too much attention to the details of a world gone sideways, a world in chaos torn between animal instincts and an urgent need to both civilize and divide ourselves into tribes of madness and deranged politics, at a time when we stood on the verge of a potential apocalypse.
  9. Nov 16,  · I’ve often wondered why I turned my fickle back on the Talking Heads and now I have the answer: Naked. Listening to this studio LP (their last) for the first time in decades reminds me of what a bad taste it left in my ears, convincing me that David Byrne and Company, who’d brought me so much pleasure over the years, had nothing more to offer.
